Prolastin is an injectable prescription medication approved for chronic, or ongoing, augmentation therapy in people with genetic emphysema caused by AAT deficiency. Prolastin is proven to be effective in raising alpha1 levels. Prolastin is administered once a week through intravenous infusion. In clinical trials common side effects included chills, malaise, headache, rash, hot flashes, and pruritus.
