Sub-Q IG (Subcutaneous Immune Globulin) is much like it’s counterpart, IVIG. The difference however is that Sub-Q IG is infused under the skin using a small needle as opposed to directly into a vein. This allows for more flexibility and convenience for the patient, and reduced potential reactions associated with standard IV administration. Currently the FDA has approved Sub-Q IG for treatment in patients with primary immunodeficiency disease (PIDD, also known as just PI).
