March 31, 2021 (Pawleys Island, SC / Birmingham, AL) — Palmetto Infusion, a Southeastern ambulatory and home infusion company, is in the business of restoring health and hope to immunocompromised and chronically ill patients who rely on infusion and injectable treatments throughout each of its 25 locations. One of the first ambulatory infusion clinics in the country upon its founding in 1999, the company continues to experience exponential growth and today announces its expansion of patient care into its fourth state of Alabama.
On March 1, 2021, Palmetto Infusion partnered with the Birmingham-based infusion clinic, AccuRX Infusion Center. Founded in 2017 by pharmacists David Bush and Todd Carter, AccuRX established an infusion clinic for patients with chronic illness. Bush, who will remain a full-time team member as Vice President, Brand Development and Sales, Gulf Coast, shared his perspective, “When we opened four years ago, infusion patients had very few treatment options in this region. Building AccuRX from scratch, in service of those patients, has been our passion. Todd and I always hoped to grow our presence and expand our treatment offerings, and this partnership with Palmetto Infusion provides the resources to do just that.”
This merger marks Palmetto Infusion’s first clinic in Alabama, and plants a flag in a city where its administrative reimbursement offices are already located. More than 30 existing Palmetto Infusion team members work in Birmingham, led by Palmetto Infusion founding partner and Chief Reimbursement Officer, Connie Hartley. Hartley shared, “AccuRX patients will experience a seamless transition as our companies come together. This integration will involve hiring additional clinical, administrative and sales positions in order to meet the demand of the Alabama medical communities and patients.”
Jeremy Bunch, Palmetto Infusion’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, states, “Our patient experience is at the heart of who we are as a company. We have implemented every conceivable convenience to ensure our patients are not only effectively treated, but truly cared for. We’re thrilled to join our Reimbursement team with a clinical presence in Alabama–we have great respect for the medical communities here and look forward to working together to provide top-notch patient care.”
Based on AccuRX’s recognition and reputation for patient care in the Alabama market, future locations in the state will operate under the AccuRX name, while incorporating Palmetto Infusion’s additional support, philosophy, and approach to care. Under this approach, local referring physicians, nurses, and staff can rely on the management of tasks like pre-authorizations and compliance reporting, and gain access to a greater variety of treatments for patients in specialty practice areas such as neurology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, pulmonology, asthma and allergy, dermatology, and more. Additionally, the infusion company has become synonymous with offering cutting-edge treatments across the Southeast, and is often among the first in the country to administer new therapies approved by the FDA, creating more advanced treatment options for patients.
Headquartered in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Palmetto Infusion’s footprint stretches throughout its home state, North Carolina, and Georgia. The company employs more than 350 individuals, spanning physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, PharmDs, reimbursement specialists, sales, and many other critical roles.
